How Hiring Through Lanex Works

Four steps from brief to your developer's first standup. Here's exactly what happens, how long it takes, and what you're signing up for.

The Process

From brief to hired in as little as 2 weeks

No lengthy RFPs. No months-long recruitment cycles. Here's every step.

Day 1

Tell us what you need

Book a free 15-minute discovery call. We learn about your tech stack, team culture, the seniority level you need, and how you like to work. No lengthy brief forms — just a conversation.

  • Role, stack, and experience level
  • Team culture and communication style
  • Timezone requirements
  • Timeline and urgency
Days 3–5

We shortlist 3–5 matches

We search our pre-vetted talent pool and, if needed, run a targeted search. You receive a shortlist of developer profiles — CVs, technical assessment results, and our own notes on each candidate.

  • Matched against your exact requirements
  • Technical assessment scores included
  • Video intro from each candidate
  • Our honest recommendation on best fit
Days 5–10

You interview and choose

Interview candidates directly — no middlemen, no gatekeeping. Run your own technical test if you want. Take as many calls as you need. We're available to help with structure if it's your first offshore hire.

  • Direct video interviews with candidates
  • Run your own technical assessment
  • As many rounds as you need
  • No pressure or sales tactics
Week 2

They start in 2 weeks

Once you choose your developer, we handle onboarding, contracts, payroll, and equipment. Your developer joins your Slack, attends your standup, and starts shipping code. We do the paperwork. You do the building.

  • Contracts signed within 48 hours
  • Equipment set up and tested
  • Onboarding call with you and the developer
  • First standup within the week
Who You're Getting

How we vet every developer

Less than 20% of applicants pass our screening. By the time you see a profile, the hard work is already done.

Step 1

Application & background check

Every applicant goes through employment history verification, reference checks, and identity confirmation before we even look at their technical skills.

Step 2

Technical assessment

Role-specific coding tests and architecture challenges. We use real-world problems, not leetcode puzzles. Less than 20% of applicants pass this stage.

Step 3

English & communication interview

A 30-minute video interview assessing written and spoken English, communication style, and how they explain technical problems to non-technical stakeholders.

Step 4

Culture & reliability screen

We've been doing this long enough to know that technical skills are only part of the equation. We assess for reliability, ownership mindset, and team fit.

Day-to-Day

What working together actually looks like

Your developer is embedded in your team — not sitting in a separate Lanex system.

Your timezone, your hours

Your developer works Australian business hours by default. AEST and PST (UTC+8) overlap by 3–4 hours in the morning — enough for standups, PR reviews, and real-time collaboration. If you're in the US or UK, we match you with someone willing to shift hours.

Your tools, your codebase

Your developer uses whatever tools your team uses — GitHub, Jira, Linear, Slack, Notion. They join your systems. You don't join theirs. There's no custom platform or third-party portal.

Managed like any team member

You manage the developer's day-to-day work directly. Lanex handles HR, payroll, equipment, leave, and compliance in the Philippines. You focus on the product. We handle the employment.

IP belongs to you

Everything your developer builds belongs to your company. Full IP assignment is included in the standard contract. No ambiguity, no carve-outs.

Common Questions

Questions about the process

Things people ask before their first hire. More in our full FAQ →

How long does the whole process take?

From discovery call to first day is typically 10–14 days. We have an active pool of pre-vetted developers, so we're not starting from zero when you reach out. Urgent placements in under a week are possible for common roles.

What contract do I sign?

You sign a month-to-month service agreement with Lanex. No lock-in period, no long-term commitment. You can scale up, scale down, or end the engagement with 30 days' notice.

How does pricing work?

You pay a flat monthly rate based on the developer's seniority level — from AUD $4,320/mo for junior through to $7,680/mo for senior. No recruitment fee, no hidden markup. One invoice per developer per month.

What happens if the developer isn't working out?

We offer a 30-day replacement guarantee. If the fit isn't right in the first month, we'll find you a replacement at no extra cost. After that period, standard 30-day notice applies to end or change the engagement.

Who handles equipment and setup?

Lanex provides and manages the developer's workstation, internet connectivity, and backup power. You don't need to ship hardware or manage equipment logistics in the Philippines.

Can I hire multiple developers?

Yes. Many of our clients start with one developer and grow to a full embedded team over time. We handle payroll and HR for each person. The process for each new hire is the same as the first.

What roles can I hire for?

Full Stack, Frontend, Backend, Mobile, DevOps, Data Engineering, QA, UI/UX Design, and Software Architecture. If your role isn't listed, tell us — we have a broad network and can source for uncommon specialisations.
